Summary

Age 11-17? Join the Fens Youth Rangers to learn practical conservation skills for free. This month - tree management and wildlife ID skills in the Great Fen.

Detailed description

Join us for another fantastic session of learning real, practical conservation skills from industry professionals and making a positive impact for wildlife. You do not need any experience to attend. This month we're at The Great Fen. This amazing project is one of the largest restoration projects of its type in Europe. Transforming and restoring the land into lowland peatlands includes lots of different management. We'll be joining the local reserves teams to learn how to manage trees and habitats, how to ID trees and fenland wildlife, and enjoy the sights of winter on the fens. Refreshments provided (hot drink and biscuits).

Youth Rangers is a group for secondary-aged young people (11-17 years) keen to make a positive difference to their local environment. We meet throughout the year at various Cambridgeshire nature reserves and would love to welcome you to our group.

Please note:

Bookings are not confirmed until we have received your completed paperwork and consent form (for each child).

Please bring water and dress appropriately for the weather - Layers and waterproofs if needed. Long sleeves and trousers recommended. Please wear sensible boots or wellies.

About Wildlife Trust BCN Great Fen

The Great Fen is a vast fenland landscape between Peterborough and Huntingdon, home to two National Nature Reserves - Holme Fen and Woodwalton Fen, protected for their unique habitat and the varied wildlife they support. The area is currently benefiting from one of the largest restoration projects of its type in Europe and the landscape is being restored and transformed for the benefit both of wildlife and of people. We offer a variety of volunteering opportunities and events for people to get closer to nature and make a positive impact on the environment.
