In this role you will be utilising your experience in community engagement, marketing or communications to improve our engagement with CPRE members, other organisations, and the wider public.
About CPRE (Campaign to Protect Rural England) Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
We strive to protect the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough countryside from unnecessary built-development by encouraging planning authorities to use previously-developed land before greenfield sites.
England’s leading countryside charity comprises a National Office and 42 local CPREs, each operating as a separate charity. At a national level, CPRE campaigns for a beautiful and thriving countryside that is valued, enjoyed and accessible to everyone.
What will you be doing?

· Developing or editing content for our website, our publications, and social media
· Using your creative flair to write content encouraging members, volunteers, donors and the general public to engage with our activities
· Using your digital design skills to improve the look of our publicity, in line with CPRE brand guidelines
· Improve our approach to members, supporters, community groups and other organisations who share our aims
· Creating profiles and case studies to showcase the good work CPRE is doing across the area
· Liaising with staff, volunteers, partners, supporters and CPRE colleagues to source content and information
What are we looking for?
· Community engagement, marketing, business development, communications or fundraising experience
· An interest in the countryside and environmental issues
· An inclusive writing style to attract a diverse audience
· Have access to a computer and the internet at home and be confident using them
· An ability to work both on your own and collaboratively with others
You will be home-based, carrying out activities around your other commitments. We anticipate this voluntary role will take 2-3 hours per week.
What difference will you make?
This role will give you the opportunity to contribute to our forward plan and help steer the direction of CPRE Cambridgeshire and Peterborough; to influence others; to mentor and motivate volunteers and staff; to use your skills to make a positive difference in your local area.
What’s in it for you?
· A great opportunity to use your existing experience and to develop new skills
· Working with others to make a difference both locally and nationally
· The potential to meet and discuss issues with a wide range of like-minded people
· Opportunities to attend local and national CPRE activities, events and workshops
The role is voluntary although we will pay all out-of-pocket expenses with prior agreement, in line with our Volunteers Policy.
What we will provide to volunteers
💸 Reimbursement of costsAbout CPRE Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
We campaign locally and nationally (alongside national CPRE) for positive solutions to safeguard the long-term future of the countryside. Nationally, we produce in-depth research and sound arguments to press the government, Parliament and other decision-makers to support the countryside – by protecting precious green belts, promoting urban renewal and restricting development on greenfield sites, and campaigning for the protection of our most important national landscapes as well as the countryside on our doorstep.
