Thriving Beyond the Label C.I.C.'s ThrivingInterests programme (holiday club) runs across the year, covering school holidays for neurodivergent kids aged 5-13

Purpose of the Role

To support the delivery of engaging, strengths-based art and music sessions to neurodivergent children. The role includes providing one-to-one and small-group support to children who may require additional assistance to participate in activities. The post holder will also undertake childcare and supervision responsibilities to support children's wellbeing throughout each session.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support for children requiring additional assistance during activities.
  • Support children to engage in art and music activities in ways that meet their individual needs and strengths.
  • Encourage communication, participation, confidence and positive social interaction.
  • Assist children with emotional regulation, sensory needs and transitions between activities.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with children and families.
  • Promote children's independence while providing appropriate levels of support.
  • Assist tutors in preparing and delivering art and music activities.
  • Support creative activities including arts, crafts, music, sensory play and performances.
  • Help prepare, organise and tidy resources and equipment before and after sessions.
  • Encourage participation and engagement across a range of abilities and interests.
  • Supervise children throughout sessions, including arrival, breaks and departure.
  • Support children's wellbeing, comfort and safety at all times.
  • Assist with personal care needs where appropriate, agreed and in line with safeguarding procedures.
  • Support safe movement around venues and activities.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience delivering art, music or creative activities to children.
  • Understanding of neurodiversity and SEND, particularly autism, ADHD and Dyslexia.
  • Ability to differentiate activities and support a range of abilities.
  • Strong communication and behaviour-support skills.
  • Enjoy working with children and young people with SEND needs.
  • Interest in art, music, creative activities or child development

Remuneration:

  • Volunteer: Unpaid, with travel expenses reimbursed. Additional expenses could be covered, subject to budget considerations. 

Safeguarding

All roles are subject to appropriate safeguarding procedures. Enhanced DBS checks may be required for roles involving direct work with children and young people.
