Summary
Our small team of volunteer gardeners play a vital role in maintaining the Physick Garden as well as the (shortly to be planted) Mary Garden.Detailed description
Duties:
- Collect relevant equipment at the beginning of each shift from an agreed location point.
- Light weeding and general seasonal maintenance.
- Assist with planting along with cutting back and pruning.
- Ensure the garden is well watered as well as kept free from litter and rubbish.
- Clear away garden waste at the end of each shift.
- Return relevant equipment to an agreed location point.
Person Specification:
- In sympathy with the Cathedral’s purpose, mission and values.
- Keen interest and experience in gardening.
- Ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the role with or without reasonable adjustments.
- Must be prepared, alert and able to respond to situations as they arise.
- Able to follow basic instructions and work unsupervised.
- Reliable and punctual.
Time Commitment:
- Gardeners would usually be expected to liaise with the staff member responsible to agree a regular shift pattern.
Training:
- Required to undergo Basic Safeguarding Awareness Training every 3 years and be aware of the advice given in the Cathedral Safeguarding Handbook.
Supervised by:
- The Director of Learning.
Please note: All applicants must be 18 or over.
