The Families and Early Years Programme runs a free, drop-in imagination playground designed by artist collective Play Build Play.
It’s open from 12pm to 3pm during the month of August on the front lawn of the Museum under a stretch tent. The Play Pavilion is an invitation for families to relax, have fun, and get creative using play blocks and specially designed play objects that link to our Frank Bowling’s temporary exhibition.
Volunteer tasks
- To welcome all visitors to the Play Pavilion and to provide an overview of what the Play Pavilion is and what activities are available for them to do.
- To interact and play with families as appropriate.
- To help with setting up and tidying up tasks.
- To attend and contribute to training/ planning meeting as requested

About University of Cambridge Museums
Together, the eight University of Cambridge Museums and Botanic Garden represent the UK’s highest concentration of internationally important collections outside London. With more than five million works of art, artefacts, and specimens, the collections have supported nearly 300 years of investigation into the world around us.
Today, they bring together people from across the world to explore the big questions: from the earliest forms of life to the future of our planet. We work to deepen understanding of our world, inspire new thinking, and address local and global challenges.
