Summary
Volunteer Youth Worker - assisting a team of sessional youth workers to support, develop and deliver the objectives of The Connections Bus Project.Detailed description
As a volunteer youth worker you will work as part of a team, providing a safe and relaxed environment for young people to meet. Our projects run for 1.5-2hours and take place weekly during term time. We are looking for volunteers to commit to one regular session a week. Our sessions take place at 4pm and 7pm.
Your role will be to build rapport, through conversations, with young people attending. You will assist with the set up and tidy away of resources. There will be the opportunity to run activities relevant to each session. This could include: sport; crafts; cooking; running a quiz; playing a board game etc.
Being part of our team will benefit the young people who attend - by you sharing your life experiences, offering support and guidance, where necessary - and providing a safe place for them to be. It also offers our youth workers an extra pair of hands, ears and eyes to ensure the smooth running of our sessions.
The Connections Bus run open-access youth clubs in 15 locations across Cambridgeshire. Some are on our bespoke double decker buses; in buildings; and recreation grounds. See our website to view our current schedule.
In return for your time, we can offer training in youth work; the satisfaction of helping our younger generation navigate their teenage years; and the opportunity to be part of a great team! We give constant support and guidance to ensure that you have the best experience.
You might enjoy volunteering with us so much - you decide to join our team of paid youth workers!!!
We look forward to welcoming you to our team.
