Help host our weekly Monday Simple Supper, which is a free hot meal open to all. Many attend who are homeless, vulnerably housed, or in food poverty.
Each Monday, we host a warm meal, listening to each others' stories as we share our food together. Many attend who are homeless or in food poverty, as well as people from the local community and the St Paul's congregation. The meal is free, on a donate-what-you-can basis.
Hospitality volunteers arrive at 5.30pm, to help set up the room for the meal, get started on washing up and tidying, and welcome people as they arrive (splitting these tasks between a team of 3). You will sit and eat with everyone else, engaging those around you in conversation. Hospitality volunteers especially look out for people visiting for the first time, or anyone in particular need of warm welcome and company. After finishing eating, you will start clearing away, aiming to finish with kitchen clean up by 7pm (but you will be expected to stay until the job is done, usually by 7.15 at the latest).
The food is important, but what many volunteers find most meaningful about the evening is the chance to connect with people in their humanity and hear their stories.

About St Paul's Church & Community Centre
Hospitality is central to our identity at St Paul's; through our weekly meals, we provide opportunities for people to meet, share, journey together and eat well. We host three hot meals a week, all cooked and served by volunteers.
