Summary

Serve, clear and tidy at our lunch clubs, which provide company and community for vulnerable and older adults.

Detailed description

Our lunch clubs run on Thursdays and Fridays, serving a warm two-course meal on both days. Most volunteers choose to work on just one day of the week, and your commitment can be anywhere from weekly to just once a month.

As Kitchen Assistant you will arrive at 12pm to assist with the final stages of set up and food preparation. During lunch, you will serve each course to the tables and clear away again, and afterwards you will clean and tidy the kitchen. You will be finished at 2pm.

Between serving, you are more than welcome to sit and eat, and socialise with those attending the meal.

Members of our Thursday lunch club include adults with a range of vulnerabilities, including physical or learning disabilities, mental health challenges, and dementia. Our Friday lunch club is for older people aged 60+ and includes some who are very elderly and isolated.

For many guests, this is a core part of their weekly routine and they really value the lunch clubs as a reason to get out the house and meet people. It's about far more than the food.
