We are looking for a friendly, organised volunteer to help manage the financial side of Rise Without Risk. This is a light-touch role

We are looking for a friendly, organised volunteer to help manage the financial side of Rise Without Risk. This is a light-touch role — we are a small community group, not a large organisation. You will be making a real difference to older residents in your village.

Your Role as a Founding Trustee

As part of this role, you will be named as a founding trustee of Rise Without Risk Community Group, a formally constituted community group supported by Support Cambridgeshire. This is a voluntary, unpaid position. As a small community group with an annual income under £5,000, trustee responsibilities are light — but meaningful. Full details of trustee responsibilities are set out in our constitution, which we are happy to share on request.

What You Will Do

  • Keep simple records of any income (grants or donations) and expenditure
  • Co-sign any community bank account transactions (two signatories required)
  • Help the committee apply for small community grants when the time comes
  • Attend two short committee meetings per year (in person or by video call)
  • Stay in touch with the founder via WhatsApp for any day-to-day financial queries

Time Commitment

Approximately 1 to 2 hours per month. Most communication is via WhatsApp and email. Committee meetings are held twice a year and last around one hour.

What We Are Looking For

  • Someone organised and trustworthy with a head for simple numbers
  • A basic understanding of income and expenditure — no formal accountancy qualification needed
  • Comfortable with a spreadsheet (Google Sheets or Excel)
  • A genuine interest in supporting older residents in the community
  • A resident of Duxford or the surrounding South Cambridgeshire area

This Role Is Perfect For

  • A retired professional from a finance, business or administration background
  • Someone who wants flexible, low-commitment volunteering with real community impact
  • Anyone who believes falls are preventable and wants to help prove it

What You Get in ReturnThe satisfaction of helping build something genuinely new and meaningful for your community. A named role in a formally constituted community group. A friendly, supportive team of three. Flexible commitment that works around your life.

About Rise Without Risk

Community Awareness Initiative – Summary Overview
Purpose
Rise Without Risk is a local community awareness initiative designed to promote confidence, strength, and balance among adults aged 50+ within the village. The focus is on prevention, early awareness, and signposting to existing services that support falls prevention and wellbeing.
This initiative is not a clinical service and does not provide medical advice or treatment. It exists to complement and support established healthcare and community programmes.
________________________________________
Why This Matters
Falls are common and can significantly impact independence, confidence, and overall wellbeing. Many falls, however, are preventable with early awareness, simple strength and balance exercises, and appropriate support.
By encouraging early conversations and sharing clear information, Rise Without Risk aims to:
• Increase awareness of balance and falls prevention
• Encourage residents to seek early support where needed
• Reduce fear around discussing balance concerns
• Support independence and safe mobility within the community
________________________________________
How the Initiative Works
Rise Without Risk operates through:
• Short monthly awareness articles in the village magazine
• Community noticeboard information
• Signposting to local services and programmes
• Sharing practical, accessible prevention advice
The initiative does not conduct assessments, deliver exercise programmes, or replace GP or specialist services.
