Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and committed individual to lead our Board of Trustees as Chair. We are seeking someone with strategic vision & strong leadership.

Detailed description

Do you want to lead a mixed board of trustees, and use your experience and knowledge to enhance the work of a charity providing activities and learning for adults with LD and Autism in Cambridgeshire?

What will you be doing?

We are looking for a dynamic and committed individual to lead our Red2Green Board of Trustees as Chair. We are seeking someone with strategic vision, strong leadership and who is committed to our organisation's values.

Our current Chair of Trustees is stepping down at our AGM on the 26th September 2025, therefore we are looking for someone who can work alongside her to gain the necessary knowledge to take over after the AGM.

You may have a particular motivation for wanting to work with a disability charity, or you may just want to give something to the community. We don't mind. Our experience tells us that once you join Red2Green you won't want to leave.

We offer the option of 'hybrid' board meetings so the work can be undertaken remotely, although we would like you to be able to visit our barns occasionally.

What are we looking for?

Previous experience as a trustee or chair is a must.

The ideal candidate will bring:

  • Proven leadership experience, ideally at board or senior executive level
  • A strong understanding of governance and the role of a trustee board
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strategic thinking, with the ability to challenge constructively and guide complex decisions
  • Commitment to our values, mission, and the communities we serve

We are a Disability Confident Committed Employer, and would welcome anyone with disabilities to join our board of trustees.

What difference will you make?

As Chair of our board, you will work closely with our Chief Executive and fellow trustees towards shaping the future direction of our organisation, ensuring effective governance, long-term sustainability and the continued impact of Red2Green. You will help us achieve our purpose to provide a high-quality service that supports those with Learning Disabilities and Autism.

About Red2Green

Registered in 2005, Red2Green supports people aged 16+ (mostly 18+) living in Cambridgeshire with complex learning disabilities and/or autism. We have two established services in Swaffham Bulbeck and Bottisham called Aspirations and Options. Both services run for 50 weeks a year, 5 days a week. Our charity objective is to increase opportunities in education, training, work, and leisure for people with disabilities and special needs and offer respite for their carers in Cambridgeshire. Between both our services we currently have between 85 and 90 clients join us each week.
Having originated from community education, we promote the wellbeing and education of our learners so that they can feel confident in themselves to live independently and gain work experience. As each of our clients come to us with unique needs, we provide tailored training and support to help them achieve their goals as well as break down barriers towards employment.
