Are you passionate about helping children and young people reach their potential?

POP Collective CIC is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our weekly inclusive performing arts sessions at Browns Field Community Centre in Chesterton.

Our sessions are designed for children and young people aged 8–18, including those with SEND, anxiety, low confidence and other barriers to accessing activities. Through singing, drama, movement and creative performance, we help young people develop confidence, friendships and a sense of belonging in a safe and supportive environment.

As a volunteer, you'll work alongside our experienced team to:

  • Welcome children and families
  • Support creative activities and games
  • Encourage participation at each young person's own pace
  • Build positive relationships with participants
  • Help create an inclusive, fun and nurturing atmosphere
  • Provide additional support to young people when needed

No previous experience is necessary. We're looking for people who are friendly, reliable, encouraging and committed to helping young people succeed.

Training and support

All volunteers receive comprehensive training before starting, including:

  • Safeguarding and child protection
  • Understanding SEND and inclusive practice
  • Communication strategies
  • Positive behaviour support
  • Health and safety
  • The volunteer role and expectations

You'll always volunteer alongside experienced staff and will receive ongoing guidance and support throughout your time with POP Collective.

What you'll gain

Volunteering with POP Collective is an excellent opportunity to:

  • Gain practical experience supporting children and young people
  • Develop confidence and communication skills
  • Learn about inclusive practice and supporting young people with SEND
  • Strengthen your CV and future job or university applications
  • Receive a volunteer reference after successful participation
  • Become part of a welcoming team making a genuine difference in the local community

This role is particularly suited to anyone interested in education, youth work, psychology, counselling, healthcare, social care, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, performing arts or community development.

Session details

Location: Browns Field Community Centre, Green End Road, Chesterton, Cambridge

When: Weekly during school term time (Thursday evenings from 5pm - 6pm)

We welcome volunteers who can commit to volunteering regularly, whether that's every week or on a consistent basis throughout the term.

By volunteering with POP Collective, you'll help create a place where every young person can create, perform and belong.
