Farm Guides work alongside staff to give all our visitors a great day out, telling the story of Wimpole Home Farm, what we do and where our food comes from.

By getting involved, you could
  • become part of a friendly, dedicated, down to earth team
  • meet people from all walks of life and make new friends
  • use and develop your existing communication skills
  • enjoy practical experiences and learn something new every day

What's involved?

  • You'll help give our visitors a friendly and informal experience at Home Farm.  That could involve directing them to the Café or introducing them to our latest litter of piglets
  • Talking to visitors about our animals, crops and rare breed conservation work
  • Assisting with daily events such as pig feeding
  • Getting involved with running seasonal family activities such Christmas crafts
  • Helping with practical matters like requesting the mobility buggy.
  • Developing good working knowledge of our relevant Health and Safety policies and communicating the importance of hand washing to our visitors.  You'll also keep an eye out for any unsafe behaviour, faults or damages and become competent in dealing with fire, evacuation, lost child and accident procedures
  • Helping the farm team to maintain the presentation of the farm with occasional small cleaning and tidying jobs

This role will suit you if you ...

  • are a good communicator
  • like working with both children and adults
  • are keen to learn about real farming
  • have a calm confidence around animals
  • work well within a team
  • are self-motivated, outgoing, enthusiastic and good fun

Extra information

We’ll help you get to know Wimpole Estate, how you can help and how you will work with the rest of the team – with induction and training

 • We provide equipment to help you do this role well and safely

 • We’ll also cover agreed costs of your travel between home and Wimpole Estate
