Creative Maker & Set Designer Volunteer

Memorable experiences are at the heart of what we do. Our seasonal programming and events bring much needed funds to the property and create wonderful memories for our visitors. If you’re handy with a drill or have a keen creative eye, we would love your support.

By getting involved, you could…  

• Give practical and creative support to the Experience team.
• Get involved in making our outdoor trails and activities.
• Get to know Anglesey Abbey and our work with our friendly and dedicated team
• Help immerse our visitors in bold and engaging experiences 

You’d also be joining Europe’s largest conservation charity and the wider National Trust team proudly looking after 780 miles of coastline, over 250,000 hectares of land, over 500 historic houses, castles, ancient monuments, gardens, parks and nature reserves (including lighthouses, villages, pubs and a gold mine!). We are a unique charity welcoming millions of people each year and with a vision to open up places for the benefit of everyone, for ever. 

What’s involved?

• Working with our Programming Officer and Experience Manager to create engaging activities and events.
• Assisting with the installation of trails
• Engaging across departments to stay up to date with property information
• Practical working outdoors in all weathers
• Depending on the event you could be doing a variety of tasks such as gathering outdoor materials, creating decorations or installing outdoor lighting. 
• Being part of a team that may need to adapt and change in response to local needs, National Trust priorities or changes to government guidelines e.g. Covid

We want all our volunteers to feel welcome and to have an equally positive experience when volunteering with us.  So, volunteers will:

• Be provided with the necessary induction, training, equipment and reasonable adjustments to do this role well and safely
• Be offered expenses to cover agreed travel costs between home and place of volunteering.
• Have remote access to support, news and rotas via our volunteer website

This role will suit you if you are …

• Someone with practical art, craft or DIY skills
• Happy to get stuck in with a variety of different tasks, no day will be the same!
• Creative with an interest in making and creating installations
• Eager to learn new skills
• A team player who enjoys working collaboratively with others
