Summary
Our activities include running a carers support group and a social club for autistic adults.Detailed description
What you will be doing
- Attending monthly committee meetings and taking an active role in committee decisions
- Planning, organising and running events for families with children on the autism spectrum
- Liaising with the committee to ensure that budgets for events are agreed in advance
- Representing the views of families with autistic children
The skills you need
- Knowledge and experience of autism is an advantage but not essential as we can provide training
- Patience and understanding of the needs of others
- Good organisational skills
- Able to use own initiative at group events
- Able to volunteer as part of a team, taking into account the needs, skills and strengths of others
- We are ideally looking for the parent of an autistic child to be able to represent the views and needs of parents in a similar situation
- You will need access to a computer
When and where
- Times are flexible and variable depending on meetings and events.
- Mainly home-based with monthly meetings at the Chitra Sethia Autism Centre, Fulbourn Hospital, Cambridge CB21 5EF
