Summary

Our activities include running a carers support group and a social club for autistic adults.

Detailed description

What you will be doing

  • Attending monthly committee meetings and taking an active role in committee decisions
  • Planning, organising and running events for families with children on the autism spectrum
  • Liaising with the committee to ensure that budgets for events are agreed in advance
  • Representing the views of families with autistic children

The skills you need

  • Knowledge and experience of autism is an advantage but not essential as we can provide training
  • Patience and understanding of the needs of others
  • Good organisational skills
  • Able to use own initiative at group events
  • Able to volunteer as part of a team, taking into account the needs, skills and strengths of others
  • We are ideally looking for the parent of an autistic child to be able to represent the views and needs of parents in a similar situation
  • You will need access to a computer

When and where

  • Times are flexible and variable depending on meetings and events.
  • Mainly home-based with monthly meetings at the Chitra Sethia Autism Centre, Fulbourn Hospital, Cambridge CB21 5EF
