Lead the hosting team by making a warm and welcoming environment to serve delicious meals and share great conversations with our guests!

As a Hosting Project Leader you’ll leading the rest of the hosting team, guiding them to create a warm and welcoming environment for our guests. By serving our guests a free, delicious meal and sharing in conversation, you'll be helping to reduce hunger and loneliness in your community.

Every Saturday 11:00 until 15:30pm

About FoodCycle

We are FoodCycle, and our vision is to make food poverty, loneliness and food waste a thing of the past for every community.

We connect communities, reducing loneliness and food poverty by creating welcoming spaces for people from all walks of life to meet, eat and have great conversations.

Each Project is run by a team of lead volunteers called Project Leaders, who ensure the smooth running of the FoodCycle meal each week.

Skills you'll learn:

✓ Teamwork: you’ll work as part of a team to prep the venue, serve a delicious meal, and clear up afterwards.

✓ Leadership: take responsibility for delegating activities and ensuring the safety of guests and volunteers.

✓ Rapport building: you'll build meaningful connections with guests, ensuring they come back each week.

✓ Hosting: you’ll head up front of house duties, serving food and demonstrating good customer service skills.

✓ Adaptability: every FoodCycle meal is different and you will learn to think on your feet!

What to expect from FoodCycle:

✓ Ongoing support and advice from a FoodCycle Project Leader during every session.

✓ Role specific training and opportunities to shadow current project leaders.

✓  DBS check process covered by FoodCycle.

✓ Expenses, including mileage, covered in line with our volunteer policy.

✓ Important skills to add to your CV and a reference if/when you need it.

✓ The opportunity to meet a community of like-minded people.

✓ A fun, creative volunteer experience within a community-led Project.

What’s expected from me:

✓ Lots of enthusiasm!

✓ Follow all FoodCycle policies and procedures – including the volunteer agreement.

✓ Follow all training you receive during the Project Leader induction process.

✓ Support FoodCycle to fulfil its mission of nourishing communities with food and conversation.

Time commitment

Give as much as you are able! It is easy to volunteer with FoodCycle - we don't have a minimum time commitment but we hope our leaders will volunteer at least once a month (and we love it if you are able to lead regularly!)
