Passionate about community impact? Use your finance skills to help Ely Baby Bank support families, reduce waste, and strengthen local connections.
About Ely Baby Bank
Ely Baby Bank supports local families by providing essential items for babies from 0-18 months. We collect and redistribute donated baby equipment, clothing, toys, and other essentials, helping to ensure that families can access the items they need regardless of their circumstances.
Alongside supporting families, we are committed to reducing waste and promoting a circular economy. By encouraging the reuse of good-quality baby items, we help prevent valuable resources from going to landfill and give pre-loved items a second life.
In addition to our baby bank services, we run a weekly community café offering free refreshments, providing a welcoming space for families to connect, access support, and build community relationships.
Our services are open to everyone, and we believe that reusing and sharing resources benefits families, communities, and the environment alike.
Role overview
We are seeking a volunteer Treasurer to oversee the financial management of Ely Baby Bank. This is a key role within the charity, helping to ensure our finances are managed responsibly, transparently, and in compliance with relevant regulations.
The Treasurer will work closely with the trustees to maintain accurate financial records, monitor income and expenditure, and provide clear financial information to support decision-making.
The role is home-based, with occasional meetings on-site.
Key responsibilities

- Record and reconcile all incoming funds, including donations, grants, fundraising income, and Gift Aid claims.
- Monitor and record all expenditure and payments.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial records and bookkeeping systems.
- Organise, file, and retain invoices, receipts, bank statements, and financial documentation.
- Prepare and monitor annual budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- Provide regular financial updates and reports to trustees.
- Ensure financial transparency and accountability at all times.
- Support the preparation of annual accounts and any reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with charity finance regulations and good governance practices.
- Advise trustees on financial matters where appropriate.
Skills and experience
We would particularly welcome applications from individuals with:
- Experience managing finances, bookkeeping, or accounting.
- Knowledge of charity accounting and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with Gift Aid administration and HMRC processes.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence working with spreadsheets and financial records.
- Integrity, reliability, and a commitment to transparency.
- Treasurer experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
What you'll gain
- The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to hundreds of families.
- The chance to support both a social and environmental cause.
- Experience supporting a growing community charity.
- The opportunity to contribute your professional skills to a worthwhile local organisation.
- A welcoming and supportive volunteer team.
