Are you passionate about creating joyful, meaningful experiences for children? As a Sibling support volunteer, you'll help play a key role in supporting our Groups & Events Coordinator and Wellbeing team at Milton Hospice, helping to set up and run exciting activities and meaningful days out for siblings of children who have accessed EACH services.


These events provide a safe, supportive space where children can connect with others who share their experiences! From football trips and climbing adventures to horse riding and educational outings, you'll help make these moments unforgettable. Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To help set up on hospice event days (this may include moving of boxes or furniture if you’re able to)
  • To aid and support the staff in the running of Sibling Days or Sibz Plus
  • Support the children during the day in activities such as crafts and sports
  • To help with refreshments throughout the day as required
  • Listen and observe the child/children at all times, seeking the aid of staff member if any additional help or assistance is required

  • Experience of working with children/young people
  • Friendly and enthusiastic
  • Committed and reliable
  • To be able to work with individuals as well as part of a team
  • Non-judgmental
  • Awareness of loss and bereavement - desirable
  • The ability to work on own initiative, if necessary
  • Able to work confidentially and within boundaries and have a good awareness of safeguarding


Hours/Time commitment: Each year, approximately six to seven Sibling Group sessions are organised during school holidays, including Easter, Christmas, Half Terms, and Summer, running from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Additionally, we host five to six Sibz Plus events annually, which typically take place during evenings or weekends to accommodate varied schedules.


Recruitment process: Application form, Informal Interview, Enhanced DBS & 2 references. You will also be required to complete mandatory training ahead of commencing your volunteer role, some of which will require an annual refresher e.g. safeguarding.
