Volunteer Role: Parent Advocacy & Education Volunteer
Organisation: Curiously Divergent CIC
Location: Remote (UK-based) with occasional local opportunities (Peterborough area)
Hours: Flexible – approximately 2–3 hours per week
Reports to: Volunteer Co-ordinator / Director

Role Purpose
The Parent Advocacy & Education Volunteer will use their lived experience to help other families navigating the challenges of supporting neurodivergent children.
This role is perfect for parents or carers who have navigated (or are navigating) systems like EHCPs, diagnosis pathways, or school support plans, and want to help other families feel less alone and more empowered.
You’ll help co-create resources, offer insight to schools and professionals, and support the design of training that reflects real family experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide input into parent-focused resources, workshops, or training sessions.
- Share lived experience to help shape inclusive education initiatives.
- Help review or co-create guides, blogs, or support materials for families.
- Participate in discussions, Q&A sessions, or online parent networks.
- Offer insights into barriers and solutions within the education and EHCP system.
- Promote Curiously Divergent’s neuro-affirming approach across community channels.
Person Specification
Essential
- Parent or carer of a neurodivergent child (diagnosed or on the pathway).
- Passionate about improving understanding of neurodiversity in education.
- Empathetic, approachable, and respectful of confidentiality.
- Comfortable sharing insights from lived experience in a constructive way.
Desirable
- Familiarity with SEND processes (EHCPs, school support, local authority systems).
- Experience with advocacy, peer support, or community involvement.
- Basic digital confidence (email, video calls, shared docs).
