About Cambridgeshire County Council

The Independent Visitor Service supports Children in Care by matching them with a volunteer who provides some time each month to befriend, support and develop a long term friendship with them.

The Independent Visitor service sits outside of the care system. This means it is someone who is truly independent and provides continuity which isn't always possible with changing carers and professionals.

Training and support is provided to all volunteers that includes induction training, one to one support with the Independent Visitor Co-Ordinator and Peer Support sessions.
