Summary
The Centre benefits from the continued support of a team of experienced volunteer leaders and helpers, many of whom hold recognised outdoor qualifications.
Detailed description
Our success depends on our ability to attract volunteers to support the young people.
At the Cambridgeshire DofE Open Award Centre, we’re proud to help hundreds of young people every year. This year alone, we’re supporting 10 Bronze groups, 8 Silver groups, and 4 Gold groups. But the demand keeps growing and to meet it, we need more volunteers.
We’re looking for volunteers who believe in the potential of young people and are willing to give some of their time to help us help them achieve their goals.
Whether you can contribute a few hours, a day or more on a monthly basis or just one off days throughout the year, your involvement will make a huge difference in shaping the future generation.
If you’re based in Cambridgeshire and want to join a fantastic team of volunteers making a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
We are looking for volunteers with experience in administration, website updates, social media, grant and funding applications as well as individuals with an interest in supporting and supervising groups whilst on expedition or in training.
We are just about to kit off our 2026 training season programme at the end of January, so now is an ideal time to come along and see what we do.
Additionally we are open to discussing volunteer trustee opportunities with anyone who has an interest in running the charity.
Please get in contact with us if you are interested in knowing more.

About Cambridgeshire DofE Open Award Centre
We are an independent charity licensed to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bronze, Silver and Gold programmes across Cambridgeshire. It is the only independent Open Award Centre in Cambridgeshire, meaning we can help young people (aged 14 - 25 years) from anywhere in the county and from any educational establishment and even those who have full time jobs or who are home schooled. In order to offer this, adult volunteer leaders are essential to provide the guidance, safety and support these young people need to thrive and complete their DofE journey.
