Summary

Someone to organise a programme of 2 talks a month held on Zoom about family history from September to July.

Detailed description

We are looking for an enthusiastic person with an interest in genealogy or local history to organise our events programme. Your role will be to find and book 2 interesting speakers every month, from September to July. You will need to agree fees, dates and travel expenses with the speaker and liaise with the society's publicity officer, journal editor and treasurer to ensure the talk is publicised and the speaker paid! You can be based anywhere in order to undertake this role. The talks are all held on Zoom, (although there may be one in-person talk held every year at our AGM) and you will be required to introduce the speaker to the audience and take any questions at the end. Each talk session lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes. You may sometimes be required to provide training in using Zoom to a speaker.

By volunteering, you will be helping us to encourage the next generation of family historians and therefore ensure we can continue to provide funds to preserve historical documents of local importance.

We are happy to split this role between 2 people.

About Cambridgeshire & Huntingdonshire Family History Society

Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire Family History Society (CHFHS) is a long-established (in 1976) charity with the specific aim of supporting and encouraging family historians who wish to research the old counties of Cambridgeshire, the Isle of Ely, and from January 2020, Huntingdonshire. We transcribe records, purchase records for the local archives and provide grants to help them to preserve records of local importance
