Join us to help provide free, nourishing lunches to children and families across Cambridge during the school summer holidays
Do you want to help feed children and families in the UK’s most unequal city?
Each school holiday, the Cambridge holiday lunch programme provides free meals and activities for disadvantaged families at different venues across the city.
Volunteers are essential to the running of the programme
and there are lots of different ways you can support holiday lunch events, including:
- Cooking hot meals at community centres: 27th July, 28th July, 10th Aug, 17th Aug, 18th Aug
- Preparing picnic lunches in the CSF kitchen: dates TBC
- Serving lunches at events: 28th July, 5th Aug, 20th Aug, 24th Aug, 26th Aug
- Assisting with children's activities: 4th Aug, 11th Aug, 25th Aug
- Delivering food to venues: 28th July, 5th Aug, 20th Aug, 24th Aug, 26th Aug
Volunteering at a holiday lunch event is a great way to:
- Meet new people from all walks of life
- Develop practical, transferable skills
- Help build a stronger and more resilient local community
- Support families facing challenges to access nourishing food and good company
You don't need any previous experience to volunteer at a holiday lunch - just enthusiasm for getting stuck in and helping to tackle holiday hunger in Cambridge! We'll provide full briefing and induction and you’ll be supported by experienced, friendly staff throughout your volunteering experience.
The holiday lunch programme runs every school holiday (except Christmas) so if you can’t help out over the summer but would like to help at future events then we’d still love to hear from you!
