Summary
Every Thursday and Sunday throughout the year, we deliver hot, vegan food to anyone in Cambridge who requests it. 100% volunteer run. Solidarity not charity!Detailed description
Helping to deliver hot meals to people who have asked for them is an act of solidarity in these challenging times.
We don't do "charity" – we all need help sometimes with something, and we aim to de-stigmatise the act of asking for that help. We don't "gatekeep" our service – someone asks for food, and they receive food, no questions asked. Simple.
CCK launched in 2020. It has no owners and no managers; everyone is a volunteer, working ad hoc as it suits them; nobody is full-time. But with no hierarchy and nobody having decision-making power over anyone else, we nonetheless cook 600 portions of hot food every week, and deliver it to around 120 addresses across the city.
What we will provide to volunteers
🤝 Extra supportAbout Cambridge Community Kitchen
We are a food solidarity collective tackling food poverty in Cambridge by delivering free, hot, vegan meals to people who need them every Thursday and Sunday.
We have a range of roles, including cooking, cleaning, meal delivery, admin and coding, and all volunteering is flexible.
If you live in CB1-CB5 and could use a free, hot meal, do go to our website and request one there. Volunteers need feeding too!
