Summary for team leader roles:
Our Foodbank team leaders are responsible for the running of our food parcel distribution sessions. They take responsibility, alongside another team leader, for 1 of the 9 sessions that we run during the week. The leaders co-ordinate their team of 5-10 volunteers, they liase with the Operations team about food required for their session. They create a warm and welcoming environment for the people visiting and run the session to a set process, developed by Trussell and Cambridge City Foodbank. They deal with any difficulties or concerns that arise in liaison with the Operations team. They are an essential part of the work we do to support those in crisis in Cambridge
What you will be doing:
- Create a welcoming, caring and friendly atmosphere for volunteers and people coming to the centre to collect food parcels.
- Coordinate the volunteer team to make refreshments and tidy up as required during the session.
- Offer a listening ear and signpost clients, as required, to further support, using information from the signposting folder/leaflets.
- Supervise, motivate, support training and orientation of new volunteers including holding a briefing and de-brief for each session.
- Uphold safeguarding, health and safety and hygiene policies, reporting any concerns to the operations team.
- Communicate weekly with the Operations team and problem solve together.
- Ensure food bank policies and procedures are followed and paper work is completed.
- Attend team leader meetings quarterly.
- Develop a positive Team Spirit in support of the Vision, Mission and Values of the Cambridge City Foodbank.
Skills you will need:
- Ability to communicate in a clear, friendly and positive manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and be empathetic.
- Experience in managing challenging behaviour and dealing with vulnerable groups is desirable.
- Organised and self-motivated
- Strong leadership skills and a team player.
- A commitment to the vision, mission and values of Cambridge City Foodbank.
