Are you interested in supporting local community events this summer? We are looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our team!

Are you interested in supporting local community events this summer? We are looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our fundraising and events team on an ad-hoc basis.

We are Cambridge Acorn Project — a small but mighty local charity providing life‑changing support to children and families across Cambridgeshire who have been through extremely tough times. Our work helps them rebuild hope, heal from trauma, and begin to thrive again.

As a volunteer, you will help us run our charity stalls at village feasts, fairs, and community days - raising vital funds and helping more people hear about the work we do. You might be:

• chatting to visitors about our charity

• selling raffle tickets

• supporting simple children’s activities (arts, crafts, games)

A member of staff is always there with you, and it’s a rewarding way to spend a few hours - usually at weekends.

Because of the nature of our work, all volunteers complete a short safer-recruitment process:

• a short application form

• a brief, informal interview (45 mins)

Once that’s done, you are free to sign up for any of our community event shifts throughout the year including:

  • Sunday 28th June - Fulbourn Feast
  • Sunday 28th June - Histon Feast
  • Saturday 11th July - Girton Feast

About Cambridge Acorn Project

We provide life-changing support to children and their families who have experienced trauma and abuse, and are living in poverty.
We are a small local charity that has a huge impact on families and communities across Cambridgeshire. Our team is made up of dedicated Social Workers, Counsellors and Therapists as well as our incredible volunteers! We work with children and their families who have experienced domestic, sexual, emotional, and/or physical
abuse. As well as this, we work with single-incident trauma such as house fires, floods, or traumatic loss. Many families we support have experienced profound intergenerational trauma and our work is about breaking cycles of trauma and poverty, tackling the inequality that stems from adverse childhood experiences, and helping children and families to emotionally recover.
