Summary

The club is currently looking for a new Treasurer, as the current incumbent wishes to step down from the role at the Club's AGM in October 2024.

Detailed description

The Treasurer role at C&C is one of 10 Trustee roles on the Club's Committee. The Trustees are responsible for the Club's current and future health, growth and prosperity.

The Treasurer's overall role is to look after the club's finances, attend monthly committee meetings, being prepared to give financial updates to the rest of the committee, giving an annual report to club members at the AGM, play an important role in club budgeting, and recommending any changes to the Annual Members Subscription.

In more detail, the role entails:

  •  Maintaining the clubs accounting records on a cash basis:
  • Preparing monthly income statement.
  • Preparing the annual accounts for the club.
  • Preparing the income and expenditure statement for the Cambourne 10K (a fundraising event organised by the club).
  • Liaising with the reviewer of the club accounts.
  • Making payments (on average once a week).
  • Preparing a monthly bank reconciliation.
  • Preparing the annual budget for the committee to approve.
  • Attendance at monthly committee meetings which normally take place online.
  • Recommending any changes to the annual subscription rate.
  • Reporting to the Charity Commission
  • Filing accounts
  • Filing the annual report
  • Updating the Trustee details
  • Filing Club Tax Return when required by HMRC
  • Answering ad hoc finance questions from the Committee including ad hoc expenditure requests
  • Admin
  • Changing bank signatories
  • Bank KYC as required by CAF Bank and HSBC

The average time requirement for the role is around 1 hour per week, but this can increase slightly around the time of the Club’s AGM. The role would suit someone who has experience/qualifications as an accountant or book-keeper, who has attention to detail, and a sense of humour! There is no requirement for the Treasurer to be an active sportsperson but an interest in sport is likely to make the role more enjoyable. The existing trustees and committee range in age from teenage to well into retirement and are welcoming, committed and enthusiastic.
