CamSight is seeking engaged, thoughtful people to join our Board of Trustees.

Your insight could change lives

Our vision is simple: a world where people with low vision and blindness are supported, included and valued. As a Trustee, you will help turn that vision into action: guiding our strategy, championing our mission and helping CamSight reach even more people.

Purpose

Shape strategy, strengthen our future and champion people with sight loss

Commitment

Four Board meetings a year, usually on a Monday or Tuesday, plus occasional committee work

Location

CAMBRIDGESHIRE

Role

Voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed

Every day, we support local people to maintain independence, improve well-being and be more included in the things that matter to them. Your contribution at Board level will help protect that impact and open up new possibilities.

Everything we do is guided by five values: we are person-centred, empowering, friendly, collaborative and accountable. If these values resonate with you, we would love to hear what you could bring to our Board.

You do not need to have been a Trustee before. We welcome experienced Board members and first-time Trustees alike. What matters is your willingness to contribute, ask good questions, work collaboratively and share our ambition for people with sight loss.

Why join us?

  • Make a visible difference: help shape decisions that improve the lives of people with sight loss
  • Use your expertise for good: bring your professional and/or lived experience to meaningful strategic challenges
  • Grow your own skills: gain Board-level experience, relevant training and fresh perspectives
  • Join a committed team: work alongside welcoming Trustees who share your determination to succeed
  • Be supported: receive a thorough induction and reimbursement of reasonable expenses.

A manageable commitment with meaningful impact

The role involves four Trustee meetings each year, plus occasional committee work. Meetings take place in Cambridge on Mondays from 3 - 5pm or Tuesdays 6 - 8pm, although can be joined virtually.

Ready to use your skills for something remarkable?

Application deadline: Friday 27 November, 2026

Interviews: Week commencing 30 November, 2026

With intention for successful applicants to join staff and trustees at our team get together at Allia FBC, on the afternoon of the 14th December.

About CamSight

CamSight is a Cambridgeshire charity that supports local people of all ages living with low vision and blindness to live the lives they choose. We work to enhance independence, improve well-being, and improve inclusion.

Our vision
A world of equality, in which people of all ages who are blind or have low vision achieve the possibilities they choose in life.

Our values
At CamSight, we strive for a world of equality, in which people of all ages who have low vision and blindness achieve the possibilities they choose in life.

In this mission, we aim to uphold the following values in all that we do:

o Person-centred
Our beneficiaries are at the heart of everything we do. We see individuals as whole people, not defined by one element of their lives. Our work is holistic in approach. All are welcome at CamSight.

o Empowering
We enable everyone to be able to reach their full potential. We provide the tools, information, and advice to allow people to live the lives they choose. We do not prescribe or dictate terms; we empower decision and action. We invest in our staff and volunteers to meet their aspirations and those of CamSight.

o Friendly
We are caring and empathetic to all we work with. We are a friendly voice at the end of a telephone call or a friendly face to chat with over a cup of tea. We are responsive in our communication and in our work. We create a positive, professional environment in which to work.

o Collaborative
We work well together and with others. We are flexible and adaptable in our approach, looking to build our partnerships and networks for the benefit of our beneficiaries.

o Accountable
We are accountable to each other and to our beneficiaries. We monitor and report our impact, our finances, our progress, and our plans in an open and honest way. We build trust through transparency. We welcome feedback and we work to improve.
