Become a Care Home Befriender - spend one hour each week chatting with a resident, brightening their day and making a meaningful difference.
Make a difference with just one hour each week.
Loneliness can have a huge impact on older people. Age UK research shows that 80% of care home residents experience feelings of loneliness, while 60% receive no visitors on a weekly basis.
Our new befriending service matches volunteers with a care home resident in their local community across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. As a Care Home Befriender, you'll visit the same resident for just one hour each week, offering companionship through a friendly chat, a cup of tea, a game or simply through sending time together.
Your regular visits can give someone genuine connection, brighten their day and give them something to look forward to each week. And you may find that the experience brings just as much joy and fulfilment to you.
You'll receive fill training and a DBS check, completely free of charge, so you can feel confident and support in your role.
All visits will take place within the care home so will have the additional support of the care home team should you require it.
