We are looking for volunteers to help weekly meetings, events and camps run smoothly. We play to your strengths e.g. admin, catering, outdoor/creative skills.

Whatever your skills, we want you to join the adventure and help our eight to ten year old Cubs gain skills for life. One session you might be exploring the great outdoors. And the next? Learning new things right on your doorstep.

We’re all about teamwork here at Scouts. In the Cubs team, you'll be helping to build on skills learned from Beavers and helping them prepare to be Scouts once they are 10.5 years old. The beauty of volunteering in a team means we all bring something to the group and there’s likely someone who can help you out when needed. I have put in 2-5 hours per week, but it really is what you can afford to volunteer with your other commitments, some weeks are busier than others - and if you can't help out weekly, then that's fine too. The more volunteers there are, the more we can share the responsibilities out between each other.

By helping out, you’ll be creating lifelong memories for our Cubs.

A typical weekday session might look something like:

  • Running adventurous activities and team games
  • Helping them be accepting of each other and recognise we are all different
  • Helping and supporting young people
  • Chatting and collaborating with fellow volunteers, parents and carers.

If you're not so sure whether you'd like this, or be any good - please come and join us for a few sessions to see what is involved and you can ask questions along the way. The scout association website also has some very helpful information about volunteering with us.
