SummaryWe are looking for people with great communication skills to greet our visitors as they arrive to the Cathedral.
Volunteering at Peterborough Cathedral is a rewarding place to volunteer, and a great place to meet new people as well as develop your communication skills. Peterborough Cathedral is an inclusive employer, welcoming people from all backgrounds. We have over 300 volunteers supporting the Cathedral in many different roles, and have built a community atmosphere with regular volunteer get togethers.
Welcomers should greet all visitors as they arrive to the Cathedral. They act as an information point introducing people to the Cathedral, record visitor numbers, promote tours, events and activities, help to ensure the building is showcased to a high standard, and provide information about the wider area.
As the Cathedral does not charge an admission fee, welcomer's are required to encourage donations, either cash or contactless, from the public as they arrive to ensure the sustainability of our glorious Cathedral.
Due to the nature of the role we are only able to accept interest from people 18+. We are looking for someone who is a confident communicator and proactive in engaging with all visitors. The position will be to cover shifts on Tuesdays from 10am-1pm, Saturdays from 10am-1pm or 1-4pm or Sundays 12-3pm. It can be done on a role share basis if you are unable to commit to every week.
If you have any questions, or are not sure if it is the right role for you, please do get in touch for a chat with our volunteer coordinator Charlotte.
